Using sail away together
Approximate high-frequency microphone energy, or tap-to-play.
A short way to begin
- Try the tap button to understand the boat’s movement.
- If using the microphone, explore a gentle sound at a comfortable distance.
- Use the sound your SLP has selected; do not strain or blow forcefully into the device.
Adapt this activity
Take turns together. Never strain, shout or hold your breath. Stop if the activity feels uncomfortable.
What the feedback means
The detector can react to other noises. It does not isolate oral airflow, recognize a phoneme or judge tongue position.

Questions about this activity
Do I need to turn the microphone on?
No. Tap-to-play is available. Rhythm and turtle-pacing activities are based on deliberate taps rather than microphone analysis.
Is audio recorded or uploaded during this game?
No. These voice games analyze microphone samples in browser memory. The separate articulation record-and-replay feature is optional and is described in the privacy page.
Why does the response change between devices?
Microphones, distance, room noise and browser processing differ. Use sensitivity where available and interpret the display as approximate feedback rather than a clinical measurement.
